We replace the chair with a large exercise ball for this class. Using the ball adds greater instability to our movements, so it challenges your balance and core strength a little more. Due to the nature of the ball this class introduces new movements and is more challenging than the regular Chair Yoga classes.
We begin sitting on the ball to practice bouncing, pelvic tilts, the six movements of the spine (flexing/extending, side bending, and twisting), and sit to stand.
Next, we hold onto the ball while practicing a standing twist and a wide-legged squat. Then we practice some table and plank variations laying our belly over the front of the ball. Next we transition to a supported backbend over the ball before practicing rolling up and rolling down over the ball.
