Gentle Hatha - Prepare the Hips and Legs for Half Moon Balance Pose

Half Moon Balance Pose isn't easy. It asks for length in the hamstrings and inner thigh muscles, plenty of hip mobility, and a stable strong base of support on one leg.

This class moves slowly through some leg and hip stretches and movements to prepare for the challenging balance pose. I show you how to use the wall as support so you can enjoy the spaciousness this pose brings your whole body instead of having to worry about falling.

This class is a little more challenging than the usual Gentle Hatha class, but it's definitely worth a try!

Props recommended:

  • a yoga belt or long scarf for the leg stretches
  • a yoga block or a chair to place your hand on in the balance pose
  • horizontal wall space that is as tall as you are (optional)
  • padding for under the knees
  • a cushion to sit on
