Challenge Your Balance to Strengthen Your Balance

Have fun challenging your balance from many different positions in this class.

It’s important we find ways to increase our proprioception and ability to “right” ourselves when we lose our balance. Today, you’ll play with the wobbles to gain strength in your ankles, hips, and core.

Balance doesn't just come into play when we're standing on one foot! In this class we explore balance while laying over a cylindrical bolster on our back, on hands and knees, standing on one foot (with a book on our head!), and seated on our bum with hands and feet off the floor.

Get ready to laugh through the wobbles while you gain confidence and strength!

Props used:

  • a yoga block or book
  • a cylindrical bolster or rolled up blanket or towel

Accessibility

  • we practice poses laying on the back, on hands and knees, standing, and seated
  • you may practice the beginning sequence laying flat on the back instead of over a bolster
  • you can have something to hold onto nearby as you balance on your feet.
